Beach Themed Nail Art Tutorial + Julisa 5-FREE Nail Polish Giveaway!

Beach Themed Nail Art Tutorial + Julisa 5-Free Nail Polish Giveaway

So I thought I’d give you a heads-up that this is going to be one long and (a bit) personal post before we get to the tutorial & giveaway part so please bear with me. 🙂

Today is the day I welcome my treasured new arrival to the my project portfolio – after holding my excitement for more than six months I’m here to announce that I’ve co-founded a range of toxin-free nail polish! Ta-dah – hello ladies & gents – come meet my precious baby Julisa.

I’m ecstatic and proud to share my personal stories of my new-born 5-free nail polish brand Julisa. One of my life’s motto is that a path or a life event, no matter how fab or tragic, always leads to another opportunity that you might not have come across otherwise.

Some of you might already knew that how I’ve started my mission of detoxifying everyone’s beauty cabinet (I shared my story on this guest post and free ebook over at Brisbane Threads here). It’s all begun 18 months ago when I fell ill. The cause was a bit of a mystery, but it’s prompted me to go through every single bottle of my personal care and beauty items to look for any potentially harmful or hormone-disrupting ingredients. With much shock and sadness, I trashed four boxes full of toxin-laden lotions, wash, lipsticks and polish that I once thought I’d never part with. I kept asking why these messages about the potential dangers of our everyday beauty products haven’t’ been made more mainstream and readily available. Don’t get be wrong, I was more like annoyed by my own ignorance that I haven’t paid the care that I should for my own well-being and that I’m ultimately responsible for it.

It’s only taken me a few months to switch over to a toxin-free products based skincare routine. I’ve been a massive green beauty nerd inspecting every single ingredient label every time I shop at the chemists. I’ve been feeling renewed, reinvigorated and guilt-free for my body that I love (I also shared a few positive changes I noticed since switching to natural beauty here). One thing I realised is that it takes loads of research effort and test runs (let alone bravery) to find alternatives to my once loved toxin-laden products. It was then when the light bulb moment has blossomed in my head that I want to develop my own range of green beauty products which I can whole-heartedly trust and recommend to my friends.

After a few meetups with my cheeky girlfriend Elisa who’s just a downright genius nail art queen, the vision of Julisa polish has come to life. The fact is I can’t live a day without pretty colours and Elisa can’t live without creatively manicured fingertips. So it came with no surprise that our first venture into the green beauty space is a line of vegan-friendly, 5 toxins free nail polish.

We both see this as the best way to share our passion and spread our mission to paint every beauty cabinet green. Our polish is created for ourselves, our friends and our body-loving tribes to add a fun pop of colour to any (rainy or shiny) day. I’m utterly ecstatic to share with you here about where my green beauty journey has led me. And you can start to make an impact too by just taking one baby step to be the change that you want to see. 🙆🙆👌

Drum roll please… allow this proud mumma bear to introduce these four absolute fave Julisa shades of mine among the 15-shade range:

Beach Themed Nail Art Tutorial + Julisa 5-Free Nail Polish Giveaway

For our beach themed french tips manicure,

You’ll need:

 ♠ Julisa 5-Free Base & Top Coat

♠ Julisa Ghost Cactus (shimmery teal opaque base that’s magically mixed with medium-sized holographic glitters)

♠ Julisa Midnight Eyes (a clear base mixed with glitters that are silver, blue and pink- a mix of multi-size glitters makes this polish super fun!)

♠ Sponge (any clean and unused kitchen sponge will do; cut it into a small piece of 2 cm wide)

♠ Aluminium foil

♠ Cotton buds soaked in nail polish remover

Step-by-Step Tutorial with How-to Video:

1. Apply base coat with the brush and let it dry.

2. On a small piece of aluminium foil, drop a few blobs of Ghost Cactus polish with the brush. Using the corner of a sponge, pick up a small amount of polish from the foil. Gently press the sponge on the tip of your nail, aiming to paint a french manicure style tip that is 1 to 1.5 cm wide (or as long as the tip covers the white colour of your nails). Let it dry completely.

3. Apply a coat of Midnight Eyes polish with the brush on top of your Ghost Cactus tip to make it dazzle! Let it dry.

4. Apply a top coat & viola – you’re ready for Santorini! Clean your cuticles with cotton buds if needed.
