Here’s How to use Rosehip Oil in your Beauty Routine

Here’s How to use Rosehip Oil in your Beauty Routine

So around twelve months ago I was introduced to the goodness of Rosehip Oil which I cannot part with on any day from then on. It was like a ‘where have YOU been all my life’ moment (bet you could relate)!

There it began my skin-changing love affair with rosehip oil.

To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of facial oil until I met her. I have combination skin type and I felt oils tend to sit on my skin leaving it too shiny and greasy-looking (it didn’t help when back then the oils I used were probably not organic nor pure and were likely to be blended with other nifty petrochemicals).

So I’m telling you lovelies, it’s nothing over-exaggerating to declare that rosehip oil has been life-changing for me. The beauty of her is that rosehip oils get absorbed deeply into my skin quickly, leaving my skin feeling velvety and oh-so-smooth! I have some light pigmentation on my skin from acne. Over the course of 12 months since continuously applying rosehip oil underneath my moisturiser nightly, I did notice my pigmentation has gone lighter and less noticeable (I’ve blogged about my experience using Rosehip PLUS and Rosehip by Essano).  No to mention the natural glow and visibly smaller pores my skin has gifted me – happy times! According to the Mario Badescu reviews I’ve read here lately, some of their products feature rosehip oil as an ingredient. I might just have to take those products for a test drive soon.

But If you’re just using rosehip oils in your skincare routine as an intensive treatment, it’s time to crawl out from underneath that rock. We’re sharing why rosehip oil is our trusty wingwoman in our beauty pouch – one who always looks out for you and keeps you well-groomed throughout the day!

Here, 7 smart girl’s tips on how to use rosehip oil in your beauty routine, literally from head to toes:

♥ 1. Use rosehip oil as a primer. Prep and prime skin before applying foundation for flawless application and avoid dry patches. If you’re prone to shiny t-zone, only apply rosehip oil on your cheeks or spots that are dehydrated.

♥ 2. Mix one drop of rosehip oil in with your liquid foundation for a natural dewy effect. I love this makeup look for the casual day out which gives you that ‘I just had 8 hours of beauty sleep’ glow!

♥ 3. Use a roll-on rosehip oil and dab a tiny amount on your cheekbones and chin as a dewy highlighter. Throw one into your makeup pouch for touch-up during the day or post-workout.

♥ 4. Bad hair day? Massage two drops of rosehip oils in the palms of your hands and apply to the tips of your hair to hydrate the split ends and give a lustrous shine.

♥ 5. Apply a tiny amount to your lips for glossy sexy pout and also as an intensive hydration treatment – just doubling the wins!

♥ 6. Dry cuticles? Try using rosehip oil as cuticle oil to help soften and nourish them.

♥ 7. Bushy brows? Dab a small amount of rosehip oil to groom them. If you have fuller brows you can even skip filling in your eyebrows and just groom them using rosehip oil for a natural ‘no makeup’ look.

Here I’m sharing my rosehip oil beauty look with a small dab on my cheekbones and my chin as an illuminator. To balance the highlight, I also applied my LUMA natural bronzer (reviewed here) on both sides of my cheek for contouring – remember it’s all about light and shade!

My absolute favourite rosehip oil brand is Rosehip PLUS which is Australian Certified Organic, cold pressed, vegan and cruelty-free. You can get a large 50ml bottle for under $30 (RRP $29.95) which is a true value for money as a little dab goes a long way. This 50ml one lasted for over 6 months with my daily (obsessive) use! Their 15ml roll-on bottle is a gem too – so perfect for my carry-on beauty pouch when I travel and it also fits nicely in my post-yoga beauty bag.

Hello Tiffany, so glad you found this helpful 🙂 Rosehip oil is absolutely a life-saver for girls with combination skin like myself, nothing too heavy nor too greasy. If you don’t usually oils on your face perhaps start light by applying two drops (I use two drops in the morning and four for the evening). There’re so many amazing organic brands over in the UK too, I’m keen to see what you end up choosing and how it works for you!

      Love, Juliet
