Hangout with the Travel Blogger: Judith from Chasing Glitter

HANGOUT WITH THE TRAVEL BLOGGER: JUDITH FROM CHASING GLITTER

Oh the joy of online stalking and meeting like-minded virtual girlfriends! Have you ever felt you could be the best eating or shopping partner in crime with someone whom you follow online? Have you ever followed any bloggers and you couldn’t help but hit ‘like’ on every single photos of them on Instagram? And then you paused for a moment and thought, ‘Hang on, do I look like a creepy stalker here?’.  Well, this is exactly how I felt when I stumbled across this babe-ly fellow bloggy chica Judith from Chasing Glitter. We could perhaps be long lost twins: we blog and travel the world in pretty espadrillas, we believe no food is too calories-filled while travelling and we always pack a little lace dress in our suitcase! Judith wears her brightest, girliest girl’s smile in every travel photo that makes her wanderlust highly contagious. Her travel tales are jam-packed with her adventurous soul, humor and her bold and lively character that made you wish to hop into her suitcase and travel with her! So here she is my fellow travellettos, come meet my adorable blogger twin Judith and get inspired to embark on a girly girl’s journey:

Best words to describe your travel style?

When traveling I prefer to go minimalist yet girly. I always pack a ton of dresses, delicate jewelry, and espadrillas. I prefer this style to shorts, tanks, and sneakers because I’m a total girly girl at heart. I love to doll myself up while traveling – after all, you never know who you might meet or what perfect Instagram situations you’ll run into when trekking the globe.

Best travel hacks?

First, always bring dry shampoo! Especially when visiting countries with tropical climates. There’s nothing like a good spritz and go in between your day activities and dinner.
Second, while technically not a “hack,” I find that it’s always important to bring at least one classy dress with me – just in case I happen to get invited to a posh champagne party or a random stranger’s wedding, which has actually happened in the past.

Best secret hangout spots in your current city?

There’s this adorable café in the Zhongxiao Dunhua area (Taipei) that can literally only fit about five people at a time. Since it’s in a nice tucked away street, people often stroll by it without giving it a second glance – which, to be honest, is just fine by me. More caramel lattes for me! (I’d tell you the name of the café, but that would ruin its secrecy now wouldn’t it!) When it comes to secret hangouts, I prefer tiny little bars or cafes that take pride in their craft.

If you were a tourist in your hometown how would you spend a day in town?

My hometown is the very tip of Texas, so I’d definitely hop the border and visit Mexico for a while to get some street tacos and Corona with lime. After lunch, I’d head to South Padre Island for some sunshine and margaritas.

Favourite destinations for ‘girly girls’ trips’?

Any place that has a beautiful spa! I enjoyed an hour-long aromatic massage on the beach during my most recent trip to Boracay, and I definitely recommend it to girls who love to be pampered.

I’d also have to choose Seoul, South Korea because everything is cuter in Korea. From the great (and cheap) shopping stalls that sell frilly dresses to the puppy cafes, this city is a girly girl’s heaven.

Best street food destinations?

Mexico! I grew up on the border of Mexico and Texas, and I remember constantly heading down south for some fresh corn tortillas filled with sizzling meats and fresh handmade salsa. Toss in a cheap Mexican beer with lime and I’m in heaven.

Your biggest guilty pleasure while travelling?

I’m a firm believer that calories should never be counted while traveling. If there’s any one reason I love to travel, it’s to eat food I’ve never tasted before. If I’m in a new and exotic country, there’s no way I’m ordering yogurt for breakfast or salads for dinner.

Your go-to travel sites for inspirations?

I’m almost always stalking BeMyTravelMuse.com, PinayFlyingHigh.com, and (with a doubt) LacenRuffles.com (woot – that’s us!). I prefer to follow girls that I feel are similar to myself and my blogging vibe. I’d like to think that if we were ever in the same part of the world, we’d definitely enjoy an evening of cocktails and non-stop chatter.

Your biggest gain since started blogging?

The best part about blogging for me is the ability to enjoy writing. Writing has been my passion for a long time, and having a platform where I can freely publish my ideas and thoughts has been so liberating. It has even opened up opportunities to write for a magazine and various amazing blogs.
Even better than those opportunities is when I receive emails from girls that just want to tell me sweet things like they enjoy my writing style or they thought a certain story I wrote was funny. It’s just the best confirmation that these beautiful girls like what I’m sending out into the world through my blog.
