At a young age I’ve learned that not all things that glitter are gold.
And having travelled quite a few times and seen my fair share of beautiful sites and wonders, I can safely say that some things don’t need to shimmer to know how much they’re worth. But with trendy interior decorating and resort style home designs dazzling the world, I thought it’d be worthwhile to show you a few of my #liveitup moments to inspire our home and lifestyle.
♥ The Cosy Bathroom
Forget about having a tranquil bedroom – having a cosy bathroom with all the trimmings is what we need! What I love about this seamless all-American style bathroom with a hint of rustic appeal are the use of materials to create warmth and texture. From the copper bathroom to the earthy tiles and bricks, there’s an immediate feeling of pure relaxation and Zen. Although the materials chosen are quite traditional, such as the fireplace and wooden wall panels, they’ve managed to create it in a way that is modern and oh-so-chic.
♥ The Natural Connection
Speaking of being relaxed and Zen, how divine is this Asian inspired bedroom? Whether your eyes wander to the gorgeous round pendants, the large patterned rug or the exquisitely layered bed, everything in the space is a reflection of what is happening on the outside. The huge sliding door panels that lead straight to the large wooden deck and pool are open-plan living at its finest.
And who could resist these sophisticated and inviting indoor spaces that extend all the way out to reach the lush green and sunlight from the great outdoor (left: Casuarina Series from Coral Homes; right: Stradbroke Series from Coral Homes)? This sense of space and connecting the home with nature is what makes resort style homes so welcoming yet glamorous.
♥ The Stylish Display Wall
Display walls have a tendency of being a hit and miss – sometimes it suits a home impeccably and sometimes it can make the space look over designed and cluttered. But what I love about this hit of a display wall is its subtle positioning and the simple framed detailing and lighting fixtures. These elements allow the designer to display different sized ornaments and decorations, but complement the home’s colour scheme and texture strikingly.
♥ The Quirky Egg Chair
Before you think about your ceiling falling off once you install an egg chair in your house, don’t fear! The quirky egg chair is the perfect addition to your lounge room, outdoor area or the quiet corner of your home. Not only is it a modern-twist on the traditional reclining chair and hammock, it’s also ideal for that cheeky afternoon read with a bowl of acai berry smoothie and the I-just-want-to-work-from-home moments that we have once in a while. Add a few vibrant throw pillows, a thin blanket, and you’re set!
♥ The Sexy Day Bed
Creating large amounts of comfort and luxury to any home is the sexy day bed – it’s kind of like an inside tree house for adults or an Alice In Wonderland type of hideaway. Tucked away in the corner of your home where there is ample light and natural breeze, you’ll feel a sense of relief and satisfaction, away from the day to day chaos. What I love about this circular day bed is the amount of space and ease you have – the throw pillows aren’t pretentious and are an inviting accompaniment. And let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to have a nana nap on this after a delicious lunch?
