Yes, you did read it correctly – we introverted girls love to have fun too. Just because we seem a bit socially-awkward and quiet doesn’t mean we’re the most boring creatures on earth.
Before I share my favourite ways to spend a peaceful weekend, I thought I’d give you some backgrounds on where this has come from. It has taken me years to come to terms with my introverted self. The most difficult part was probably the teenage years growing up in a girl’s school where to be ‘in the circle’ seems to be everything that defines you. Kind of like in the movie “Clueless’, hanging out with the ‘cool’ packs seems to say a lot about who you are, at least that was what I believed in when I was a teen. I was never part of the ‘cool’ gangs in school years. I’m like the cat-person, curling in the corner at the park with my lunch box and my close friend F who’s also an introvert. It was a dilemma – we both admired how those girls seem to be in the centre of attention being circled by people and laughter. Yet I didn’t bother to be one of them, because I found it way too exhausting to be in the spotlight all the time or make myself heard in a large group. Then I started to wonder if I was seen as a bit of boring kind by the other girls, or am I just a jerk to them? Years passed and one day after I quitted a job that wasn’t meant to be for my personality, I stopped caring about what people thinks of me, and started to acknowledge there’s nothing wrong about embracing myself as an introvert. I do like friends and (nice) people, I just need some time alone to recharge my social battery, that’s all. Wow! I can go on and on about my life story, but here’s where this list comes in: below is a fun list of ways to spend your weekend for you who, perhaps similar to myself, find inner peace cocooning in your pyjamas more than at the party scene. (Note: keep reading all the way till the end for an exciting giveaway!)
Museums & Galleries Crawls
‘Seriously?’. I heard you just asked. Yes, museum crawls can be so much fun and intriguing. You, my fellow dolly, just have to trust me! The key is to find the right playground. Seeing the Vivienne Westwood exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London was simply mind-blowing for a style addict like me. Running currently till March next year, V & A is showcasing an exquisite collection of vintage wedding dresses through the eras of 1770s to the modern day. I could totally spend a whole day there swooning over the most romantic couture pieces! The museum inside Palace of Versailles in France was another eye-opener for my vintage soul. Back in home soil here in Australia, the controversial MONA in Hobart was my choice simply because of its glorious location by the serene Derwent River, the ferry ride there is a delightful journey in its own. And the best thing about museums? You can get on to an audio tour to marvel at the artpieces at your own pace.
Release Your Inner Superhero
Okay. let’s face it – fighting the villains to save the world might not be for the faint-hearted, right? But we all dream to have the superpower of the superheros at some stage in life. How about a little adventure at the comfort of your own home in your LEGO avatar? We introverts might not be loud enough to make those who commit evils to listen, yet we can journey through the fantastical world of LEGO bricks and use our smart tactics to smash Lord Business’s evil plans! Playing video games isn’t that anti-social after all. I was one lucky girl to be gifted LEGO The Movie PS4 game by the folks over at Warner Bros, and it’s been a fun weekend playing superhero with my man. For the introverted souls, video games are also awesome for breaking the ice at home parties when you feel exhausted trying to find conversations after a while.
Find Nourishment Through Good Food Karma
Nourishing food is the best companion for weekends when all I want is some spiritual time to connect with my body and mind. Good food karma is like having a conversation with your body. Sounds a bit strange? Well, go give your body some nourishing treat regularly and you’ll see and feel how it loves you back in the long run. This is only possible when you devote some ‘me time’ to listen to the signs your body send – and I believe we introverted souls are the best listeners! Yet be careful with how you choose your foodie companions, my fellow dolly. Sadly, sugary treats like doughnuts don’t even belong to the good food karma league. These sneaky ones try to fool you by delivering a short-lived feeling of pick-me-up and drain your energy afterwards – boo! I start my Sundays with a glass of warm lemon water (check out the health benefits here & here), follow by a yoga session in my candle-lit lounge room, then replenish with a large bowl of acia berry smoothies -viola! It’s yumminess that brightens your weekends and does your body good in the long run.
The Insta-Cat Stalking
(Image: @Citroneko on Instagram)
Before we start I should warn you this is one seriously addictive pastime! I’m a massive cat lady. Interestingly, we introverted souls seem to share a lot of common personality traits with our feline friends. We’re the cool kids watching, observing and analysing everyone from the corner. Try to come too close to our comfort zones? Well, some might scratch while the other will perhaps run away even before you start approaching. One thing I’m not sure is if we introverts are as entertaining to watch as the feline who always put on the most hysterical faces! Instagram is my go-to channel for celebrity cats stalking. It’s the puurfect place to spot the next Grumpy Cat before they rise to fame. These seven most adorable cats Insta feeds of my choice are sure to induce so many ‘awww’ moments in your weekends: @ava_the_cat, @citroneko, @maru_the_cat, @emonemon, @pudgethecat, @ryotukoro and @nala_cat. Awww!
So tell me Dear Dolly, do you have an introverted soul? Did it take you a while to acknowledge that it’s okay to spend weekends curling in bed and cocooning all in lonesome? I hope you found some inspirations and giggles reading through my list! Now share with me what you do to a have some fun while having ‘me time’ in your weekends? Comment below and one lucky dolly will win a copy of LEGO The Movie Playstation 4 game thanks to Warner Bros!
Until next time, stay fun.

Love this post. I was kinda an introvert. I never fit in with the cool kids, but I had my own special friends with whom I could be myself and did not worry about impressing anyone. To me, those are the cool kids. Just be yourself.
I sure prefer to spend time at home watching movies with my kitties and my hubby than partying! Great list! I would enter the giveaway if I had a console, but I don’t so…
I’m a guy..hope that’s okay to post here. I come across as an extravert but at heart man introvert. Reading books, playing my video game with a blanket over my head, listening to the rain… My favorite times are the times I can escape to far off places temporarily
Taking in foster children that have special needs on alternate weekends. Its the highlight of my weekends and to bring smiles all around, it makes my life special.
Movies, ten pin bowling, crafts and pottery! exciting 😀
Great article, I still feel as though I have no friends.
I love to read when I get the chance and stay with my close group of friends, who love me for who I am and I don’t need to impress anyone and can just be myself 🙂
There’s nothing like a peaceful weekend spent at home baking with my kids <3
Awesome post. 🙂
A great weekend for me is a good book, a challenging video game, and maybe just a little bit of chocolate!
I love reading for pleasure on my weekends! A good book can transport you to a million different places within a few pages, and once you are hooked they are incredibly hard to put down!
If it’s nice weather I have to get out in the garden it’s the perfect me time
I love to spend time watching a good movie or just playing a wicked game on the ps4 with the music pumping in the background

I love hanging out with my kids. Sometimes I join in the chaos but also just sitting with a cup of tea while they are playing makes me smile from ear to ear.
My ‘me time’ is either going to the movies or a hot chocolate at gloria jeans.
I like gardening….. I like admiring the plants and birds, and I love reading news online with a nice mug of something!
