Follow Your Star To Your Travel Paradise (Part 1)

 

Hello my fellow travelettos! How often do you pause and listen to where your star might lead you?

The horoscope forecast just dropped into my inbox from It’s In The Stars, an astrology site I fondly follow, and here’s what it says about Gemini : “You may start investing or spending a considerable sum on something beautiful or luxurious. You may be planning an interstate or overseas trip…”.

So here’s my confession: I’m still recovering from post-travel depression after my trip to Hong Kong during the new year, and I found the best cure to this is to book and plan for another journey. I saw you nodding your head here, yeah?

Browsing through my Pinterest feed the other day I was fascinated by some endless blue from over the South Pacific. I could hear Vanuatu calling. And on the same day I booked my flights for April and that has helped a little bit to tame the monstrous travel bug that’s living inside me. A day after I got a text from my BFF who lives over in San Francisco, proposing that we need to make the girls’ getaway happen, the trip that we’ve been talking about for years. We’ve started sharing inspirations for destinations. She’s a very lovable Taurean, sometimes a tiny bit stubborn but  is a very loyal and caring soulmate.  She’s suggested that we travel to somewhere ‘fun and safe’ – typically Taurean traits. That put a smile on my face and made me wonder: ‘How does your star sign influence your holiday choices?’. Trying to figure out where will your dream destination be? Read on and listen to me, Miss Starshine, for I might have found your piece of paradise written in the stars…

GEMINI: 22 MAY-21 JUNE

Paradise found: New York City, San Francisco

We are curious travellers. We are restless and kind of hard to please. If you’re after an action packed holiday with plenty of things to do, getting yourself a Gemini travel companion (like myself) is guaranteed to delight. We enjoy the hustle and bustle and being social butterflies hanging out at the funky cocktail lounges in NYC and San Francisco, yet we also like sand and surf, visiting museums or taking a drive to the outskirts for some good hikes and connect with the nature. Warning though (for Virgo), we’re not a planner when it comes to travel and we’re impromptu and spontaneous.

Disclaimer: the fact that I’m a Gemini has by no means made this analysis biased. Trust me, we’re one amiable travel buddy! 🙂

CANCER: 22 JUNE-23 JULY

Paradise found: New Zealand, road trip destinations close to home

The symbol of your star sign has probably given it away – a crab who looks for comfortable and secure inhabitants.  You tend to be very loyal to things you adore, and you treasure strong bonding with friends and families. You love to travel to places where you’re familiar with and show warm hospitality. You find it hard to resist the call of New Zealand for its relaxed, laid back atmosphere, chatty locals and a safe place for the family. You’ll find inner peace in Germany, Norway and Sweden where things are orderly yet romantic with a minimalist twist. You’ll find the German high speed trains the greatest innovation in the history of human civilisation, and the best part? The fact  that they run 99.9% on time will excite you! To put you in travel hell, simply drop you in the middle of Mumbai and you’ll have a mental breakdown seeing the chaotic scene of people piling on top of one other on trains. Hey you, Virgo, sounds like I’m reading your mind? No surprise as I’ve got a Virgo husband who only drives German cars.

LIBRA: 24 SEPTEMBER-23 OCTOBER

Paradise found: Belgium, Austria, Greek Islands

You’re a people person and a romanticist when it comes to travel. You’ll find inner peace being surrounded by beautiful, artistically pleasing and fairytale-like architecture in destinations such as Belgium, Austria and the Greek Islands. You’re born to be a shopper, the experience of walking through the markets in Vienna to pick up rare, handmade local arts is almost Alice in the Wonderland like. You need a bit of balance in your travel itinerary, a day at the markets is best followed by a pampering session at the spa or sun basking on the sandy beaches.
