A Valentine’s Day Guide For Wandering Hearts

Okay guys, I think there’s enough said about dating or not dating the girl who travels. Finding ourselves a soul mate and feeding our insatiable wanderlust are never either-or options for us globetrotting girls.

So I heard you saying, ‘but I still haven’t found the one!’. You’ve already been to numerous party cruises around the Caribbean and sipped so many glasses of fancy cocktails with your killer pair of Louboutin stilettos at the London bars, yet still yearning for the heart-stopping deai (encounter in Japanese) . Perhaps it’s time to re-think your travel plan. Ask yourself, were you at the right destination at the right time? Or were you lost in translation in Paris at that critical rendezvous moment, when ‘croissant’ and ‘macaroon’ were all the vocabularies you could remember from your French class? My friend Emanuel over at Topdeck Travel knows a thing or two when it comes to getting cupid to work in your favour this Valentine’s day. And he’ll probably give you ten good reasons why you should date a girl who travels.

So my fellow wandering hearts, tell me where was romance born for you and your plus one? Do you both speak different languages, and what were the most interesting non-English words you picked up from your dates? Share your travel romance in the comments below!

Happy Valentine’s 🙂

I met my plus one at a movie night through mutual friends. We clicked immediately and I knew I wanted to spend as much time with this awesome person as possible. . . . then he shipped miles and miles off to Coast Guard Basic Training. So I wrote letters with illustrations I doodled all over the edges and when he came back 8 -10 weeks later, he said he wasn’t about to give up on whatever this was – and promptly moved to his station 9 hours away. But we’ve been making it work with visits, txts, and calls, and emails. It gets lonely, but it only makes it that much more fun when we’re within 30 minutes of each other. ha ha. Really enjoyed this post. Much love <3

Omg Otter! This is such a gorgeous love story! Such a sweet gesture that you’ve been writing him letters! I totally think that handwritten notes, letters and little art and crafts for your plus ones are never meant to be replaced by text, snapchats or Facebook. Reading from a handwritten letter is something so precious. May you and your man have the most beautiful Vday this year, sending lots of love your way x Juliet
