Frock Up Brisbane! The Way We Wear Vintage

Frock-Up-Brisbane-2013-Vintage-Fair

I was all geared up for a bit of splurge this weekend as the Frock Up Brisbane vintage fair was in town. I’ve previously confessed my guilty pleasure hunting for vintage Chanel while I was on honeymoon in Paris. There’re a bit that I haven’t confessed to my mum though, that her clip-on vintage Dior pearl necklace didn’t fall apart by itself, but was actually snapped by her 10-year-old daughter who was secretly raiding through her jewellery box – oops! I forgot since when I’ve started to dig into my mum’s jewellery box and my grandma’s wardrobe in search for the glamour from the old days.

My Sunday was picture perfect – cute vintage goodies, 30ºC on an autumn day, great time catching up with mygirlfriend, complemented with caramel slice and raspberry friands homemade by the lovely ladies at the vintage cafe.

Of course I wouldn’t leave the market empty-handed 🙂 Here are some of the vintage lovelies I took home:

Do you know any other fabulous vintage collectors’ events around Australia? Or are you an avid online shopper who loves to hunt for vintage gems from your favourite online stores? Personally, apart from Etsy and eBay that I’m absolutely hooked on, I also like to shop local. My most recent buy? Check out these cute antique bangles for sale at kalmarantiques.com.au – worth every drooling moment!

So please Dear Reader, share your dearest vintage shopping spots in the comment below. 🙂

ooh, one day! lovely to meet a fellow cat lovers here 🙂 kitten prints and cat inspired fashion are definitely taking the center stage lately, have you seen Taylor Swift in white kitten flats on the red carpet? those were so adorable!

Sweetheart! Thanks for dropping by! Or are your simply addicted to me? 😛 Yes I’d still bang my head in the wall for not thoroughly raiding through my grandma’s closet, so many little vintage gems like cute fur cape and croc leather handbags that I wish I’ve kept!

Thank you for stopping by and following! Have to say I’m quite envious of your shopping ability + stamina – I just can’t be bothered 90% of the time and wear the same clothes almost always… 😛

Nice e-meeting you here Furo-chan. Haha yes shopping does take a lot of energy as well as vitamin M ($$$..)! I guess that’s why I’ve started blogging – if I can’t own every single piece that I love at least I could share my passion! I admire anyone with great appreciation for food and you’re one of them 🙂 Happy eating!

Oh, how I wish my town had more vintage clothing available for sale. I hesitate to buy vintage online because I am so picky about it, so it’s a lot of scouring local area flea markets and thrift stores. But, that’s the best way to find those special gems, right?! 🙂 Although, this vintage show does look like a mecca of vintage clothing – lucky you! 🙂

Hello Yelena! I can’t agree more that local thrift shops are def one of the best places for vintage treasure hunt, especially some of them donate what I spent to the community so that I know I shop for a good cause 🙂

Umm good vintage does take lots of time and effort to find, but it’s the pleasure from the actual treasure hunt itself that makes collecting vintage so interesting I guess 🙂 Wonder which part of the world are you blogging from? Btw thanks for visiting my blog!

From Amsterdam. I’m not really a vintage hunter but I like going into non chain stores. Usually the vintage here is quite hippie like or just the stuff that really wouldn’t look nice on me 🙁

I totally hear you, I’m a devoted supporter of small local brands and non-chain stores too, wouldn’t mind wandering into Zara for inspirations but most of the time great surprises & gems are from small boutiques in the back alley 🙂
